Lionel Messi and his Paris Saint-Germain side continued their perfect start to the Ligue 1 season with a dominant 4-0 victory over Nice at Parc des Princes on Saturday.

The Argentine superstar scored twice as PSG dominated the game, but it was his three assists that really shone through.

Messi's first assist came in the 55th minute when he found himself one-on-one with goalkeeper Romain Boet. The former Barcelona star expertly controlled the ball before sliding it past the Frenchman for a simple finish.

His second assist came just four minutes later, this time finding the unmarked Edinson Cavani up top. The Uruguayan striker headed the ball back across goal for Messi to nod home from close range.

And Messi's third and final assist came in the 88th minute, setting up Kylian Mbappe for a tap-in from inside the box. It was a clinical display from the forward trio, who combined seamlessly to create chances for each other.

It wasn't just the attacking play that stood out though - PSG's defensive solidity was also impressive. They kept the visitors at bay throughout the match, with only one shot on target in the entire first half.

With two wins and a draw from their opening three games, PSG look like serious contenders for the title. And with Messi's exceptional form continuing, they could be even more dangerous going forward.
